Steps to turn off read receipts are as follows- 

On Whatsapp-

• Go to the “Whatsaap” app. Tap on the three dots icon on the top-right corner. 

• Tap on Settings. 

• Then Select on Account> Privacy. 

• Go to the “Read Receipt” option. Switch to disable it in individual chats. You cannot disable read receipts for group chats. 

iMessage- 

• Go to the “iMessage” app on your iOS device. 

• Tap on Settings>Messages. 

• Go to the “Read Receipt” option.

• If you want to switch to disable reach receipts, switch to the user’s chat and click on the user’s profile pic. 

• Choose the Info icon and toggle off Send Read Receipt option. 

Facebook Messenger- 

On Facebook, there is no option to disable read receipts. But there is an option in settings called Active On. For that you had to move forward to Messenger app> Clicking on the profile icon>From Active ‘On’> Toggle it ‘Off’. 

• After getting a new message on Facebook Messenger. Switch to the Airplane Mode that helps to disable Internet and Network connections on the device. 

• Go to “Messenger” and easily view the message without an Internet connection. 

• Now turn off the Airplane mode and this allows the sender not to be notified whether you have checked the message or not.
